Let me introduce you to our beauty, Caos (Chaos in Spanish). She is born the same year as me - 1982, which will make her 29 years old this year. This beauty of a boat is built at the famous Hallberg Rassy yard in Ellös, one hour up north of Gothenburg, Sweden. All of you who knows at least something about sailing boats knows what good reputation the Hallberg Rassy's has and what a qualitative and reliable design they all posses.
Alex bought this boat in the spring of 2009 with the intention to one day sail longer distances. Only a few months after the purchase, in October 2009, me and Alex met eachother and very shortly after our first meeting we together decided to say goodbye to our old life, pack our things and cast off for new adventures around the world. An extensive refitting were to be made of the boat and we kept ourselves busy with boat work during the whole spring and summer of 2010 and finally on the 31st of October we were ready to cast off from Barcelona to begin our circumnavigation - exactly one year after we first got introduced to each other. The Hallberg Rassy 352 is the perfect cruising sailing boat for a couple, for a singlehanded sailor or a small family. She's incredibly safe, strong, extremely comfortable and she's stylish enough to meet all of our requirements for the perfect world tour cruising boat. She's our home and our vehicle, and we love her very dearly.
We have equipped her well for this circumnavigation in terms of radio, radar, satellite and other electronic equipment, new collection of sails from North Sails, new upholstery all around, new cushions for the cockpit, new teak in cockpit, new standing and running rigging, a great windvane from Sailomat, solar panels and wind generator and much much more. She is basically the most perfect live-aboard and cruising around the world boat that is to be found for a couple like us.
